Artist Profile - Dolls For Idols

Dolls for Idols were formed in mid september, our friend Alicia had introduced me and clint to aaron one night after stating that we were looking for a drummer and basist, Aaron was very keen and we met for a jam at our garage the next day.me and clint were invited to Aaron's house for a meal and to be introduced to our basist Erick, we got along like a house on fire and the following day all of us met at the garage for our first jam as Dos for idos. Missing a few days we met nearly everyday after that, 10 tracks and 2 gigs down the line we are more enthusiastic than that first day..

New songs and ideas are always in process due to outcome of the gigs, i think im safe to say that the crowd enjoy them as much as we do, which is great and will make us push harder for more tunes and a better show..

Artist Profile - Skimmed

Skimmed are Alex, Daniel, Fede and Iommi.

Malta based quartet skimmed, have quickly established themselves among the local scene as a band who is undeniably in-your-face and full of energy.

The origin of skimmed can be traced back to dark bars with weak drinks and odd smells when the band, as teenagers were entranced by local bands such as Totema, Lumiere, BNI, Beangrowers and Dripht. These sparked a yearning to one day be on that stage until at last, in 2007 skimmed, with its original line-up did just this, beginning a series of gigs around the island with several top local bands.

After a short break and the recent departure of their original drummer, skimmed are glad to announce that the band are back on track and are currently in the process of producing their debut mini album at Temple Studios with David Vella. So keep an eye out for any updates in the coming months.

Skimmed have a familiar yet different sound, echoing the Pixies and a broad range of influences from 80s/90s indie, grunge and punk.

The development of their songwriting (for those who have followed the band from the beginning) shows how this band has succeeded in growing and maturing despite numerous setbacks. Their music is all about conveying their knowledge, moments, history, rebellion, anger and poetry through energetic beats, influenced by their lives and the lives of others.

Their songwriting and lyrics often take a narrative perspective, recounting stories, present and past, personal and not, causing the listener to reflect about otherwise overlooked and disregarded aspects of life. From capturing the derision that comes along with the sudden excess and fame (Ballad for a Teenage Queen II) to the boredom and recklessness of teens living in a small town area (Bored Games).

Artist Profile - Marco Passarani

Marco Passarani hails from sunny Roma, Italy and is the label boss behind the highly revered "Nature Records", "Pigna" and any Finalfrontier related record labels. His Finalfrontier production hub is, indeed, the axis for artists such as Jolly Music, Mat 101, Francisco, Raiders of the Lost ARP, Ambit 3 and Monomorph/D'Arcangelo amongst a host of others.

Marco Passarani has played a pivotal role in the italian techno scene since the early days, djing, promoting and running his Finalfrontier pioneering distribution and production company. Since fifteen years, his journey into the electronic dance scene has always been in a central "behind the scenes" position, with his first productions coming out in late 1993 on Detroit based Alan Oldham's "Generator" label. The following year he created "Nature Records" and his own distribution and production company Finalfrontier.
Whilst releasing and promoting other artists on his own labels, he has also released various works (EPs, LPs, remixes, compilations) on a bunch of seminal labels of the like of Skam, Peacefrog, Clone, Rephlex, NovaMute etc. His sound has always been very emotional and dynamic, throwing in washes of any form of electronic dance music into a unique style that ranges from peak time dancefloor to introspective electronica. Surely, his more recent productions reveal his earlier influences more than ever: both signatures, Marco Passarani (Peacefrog) and Analog Fingerprints (Pigna / Finalfrontier) clearly show his passion for the roots of Detroit Techno and Chicago House. His ability to re-interpretate those genres, gave Marco the chance to collaborate once more with some of the most respected Detroit production team such as Submerge (the Finalfrontier record label is actually co-produced by Submerge).

In his DJ sets Passarani spins classic techno into twisted italo-disco, electro, house and funked-up electronix in a fluid and contained groove, and lately he's adding even more personal touch through newer technologies (such as Serato Scratch) playing a lot of unreleased tracks, beats and edits. Marco has played almost everywhere around the globe. Among others, he has performed at such clubs as AVALON (New York/USA), BERGHAIn / PANORAMAbar (Berlin/D), FABRIC (London/UK), FLEX (Wien/AT), THE LOFT (Barcelona/ES), MAD RACKET (Sydney/AUS), PARADISO (Amsterdam/NL), REX (Paris/FR), ROTE FABRIK (Zurich/CH), THE ARCHES (Glasgow/UK), ULTRASCHALL (Munich/D), WOMB (Tokyo/JP) etc. Also, he has been invited to take part in some important events: 10 DAYS OFF (Gent/BE), ARS ELECTRONICA (Linz/AT), DEMF Fuse-In (Detroit/USA), DISSONANZE (Rome/IT), DISTORSONIE (Bologna/IT), FONDATION VASARELY (Aix-en-Provence/FR), PRIMAVERA SOUND FESTIVAL (Barcelona/ES), SóNAR (Barcelona/ES), STEREOLIZE FESTIVAL (Paris/FR) and the STREET PARADE (Zurich/CH), just to name a few.

Alongside touring as DJ, managing his labels and producing music in the Pigna Studio (co-runned with Francesco de Bellis and Mario Pierro of JollyMusic/MAT101 fame), in the last few years Marco has been involved in some didactic projects, providing his knowledge and skills as teacher and tutor for kids and young musicians. Worthy of remark is his recent contribution to the worldwide prestigious Red Bull Music Academy. Toghether with Mario and Francesco, he hosts a regular radio show on the RedBullMusicAcademy Radio called "Dimensione Jack", where he delivers his take on dance music, ranging from techno to italo disco, through chicago-house and moody sonorizations.

MICROFEST 09 Venue announcement !!

MONTEKRISTO ESTATES (Outdoors)

As we all know summer 09 has truly kicked in and the build up for one of this years' hottest events is ever-growing. Microfest 2009 takes on a different twist from last years' edition. Hosting Microfest this time will be a very unique venue, one which has never been used for our scene, CSS present Microfest 2009 @ Monte Kristo Estates (Outdoors).

A little information about this destination, Monte Kristo Estates lies in the south-western part of the island, Siggiewi to be precise, a very quaint and laid-back village. The spacious outdoor facility of this exquisite landmark is complimented by breathtaking views of the Maltese landscape. The building itself is full of the typical characteristics of the age it holds. Giving the clubber that extra feel of detachment from anywhere else on a typical August night.

As the photos suggest this will be quite something different, it's the old-meets-new scenario, a medieval and timeless location wrapped around the finest sound technology and lighting system, which will be abused to the limits by 5 international masters and Malta's top notch Bands & Djs. We truly are 'throwing down the gauntlet'. Are you up for the challenge?

Artist Profile - EBOLA

BIO

Ebola started making electronic music in 2000 using a walkman with a pitch control, and some Commodore 64 loading tapes. He moved to Brighton in 2001, formed the Wrong Music crew with DJ Scotch Egg, Roger Species and Shitmat, and began organizing chaotic parties with ridiculous line-ups from around the globe.

After buying a computer, doing a live session for Rob da Bank on Radio 1 in 2006, and getting a slot at the Glade Festival, Ebola began to establish and develop his low-frequency, glitched-out "grime-core" sound. Since then he has taken his explosive live set all over the UK, Europe and some parts of America.

He has collaborated with Otto von Schirach, Neil Landstrumm and Shitmat, and shared the stage with Clark, Mu-ziq, Wolf Eyes, The Bug, Scorn, Ceephax Acid Crew, Mark One, Duracell, KK Null, to name a few. These days Ebola's live sets are aimed at the dancefloor, and take in many "bass-oriented" styles from dubstep to dancehall, breakcore to booty-techno, crunk, grime, gabba etc.. and showcase his complete lack of ability to stick to any one genre or tempo.

"..I must admit, I'm a lot more concerned with making people dance than I ever used to be......but if I can make a few people fall over in the process then that is of course, a bonus."

He has a few other side projects going on. Some of which you will know about, others you probably won't.

Test 1 .... 1st post

As you can see this is our first ever post in our new blog space. I don't know how to use this thing but i think I'm getting somewhere

OK lets say what COMPLEX SOUND SAGACITY is all about first, Then we move to our main objective for summer 2009, MICROFEST 09

Taken from an article done by Skidmonk for www.Technoelectro.com
It was in the cold winter evenings of 2005 when a group of friends, guided by ideas and a mutual love and respect for music came up with a concept, a concept where the number one priority was the promotion of truly innovational underground electronic music.

It was that night C.S.S. was born. Throwing some free nights at Liquid Club with local acts, A few months later we decided to put up our first braindance influenced night featuring none other then the Rephlex Veteran CYLOB

After Cylob we continued doing these nights on regular basis.
Other acts that played previous nights are : Tim Exile, Dmx Krew, Dr.Skunkenstein, Debasser, T-Toe, Heuristic Audio, Delinquent Dialect, Chris Moss Acid and local artists including : Danjeli,
D-Traum, A.i, Mt\, B-Andrenergic and many others..

Basically that was a short history of what COMPLEX SOUND SAGACITY is , A small underground music organisation in the centre of the Mediterranean sea .. MALTA.
